As an active duty Special Forces Major given the once in a lifetime opportunity to get a Master’s degree at Harvard’s School of Government, I was broken hearted at the caliber of politicians I saw get elected that year. The more I studied our government and learned about the campaigning process, the more I was convinced that our nation’s best and brightest would never think about subjecting themselves or their families to the ridiculous pressures of the modern-day, undignified campaign trail. As a result, only those who love the campaign game win. But governing is not a game and should be left to those who care and are devoted, not to those who manipulate the truth and exploit the rules.

America 1^st is an unconventional short story written to inspire the next generations of Leaders. I don’t want to start an online political party and run for President in 2024. But it is a fantastic idea and I hope that by putting it into a short story and eventually a movie, this idea will inspire others out there who are fully qualified to do so in future.

It is time we take back our government from career Politicians and turn it over to tested and proven Leaders.
